| Aim or intent of the effort: |
Alchemy assisted the CEO Department in developing a brand identity (accompanying tools, messages, images, materials and communications plan) and an integrated marketing strategy for it and its three divisions, Adams County Head Start, Office of Community Development and the Workforce and Business Center. The desired outcomes were for the department and its divisions to better communicate their purpose within the County, and its important services for County residents in a way that was cohesive, powerful and uniquely represented their work. |
|
|
| Approach/design: |
With a team that included consultants, marketing and communication professionals, researchers and a graphic arts professional, Alchemy used a multi–stakeholder approach to this endeavor. In collaboration with key leadership, Alchemy conducted strategy sessions with all employees, conducted focus groups, and phone interviews with key customers, partners, County residents, and funders to better understand the target audiences and their perception of the department.
Informed by the data gathered, Alchemy worked with all divisions to create a department color palette, consistent identities, key messages and taglines, and a uniform approach to disseminating information about and for the department. The project concluded with the design of an integrated strategy to marketing the work of the department and its divisions, leveraging their common ground, and highlighting the unique and individual contributions made by each division toward the vision of the department. |

|
| Results: |
Alchemy delivered the CEO Department a full marketing and communications portfolio and plan to better establish their presence in the County. This portfolio included design templates, outlined and other items the divisions could immediately use to market their programs. We also created an integrated marketing strategy that better leverages the department and its divisions versus the individual divisions themselves. As a result of this focus and effort, the CEO Department has increased the number and frequency of its media hits every year, is regularly featured in County and oftentimes city updates and information. Through regular customer feedback, the department assesses the knowledge its customers have of it and its services. The department–wide identity effort has also been used to garner additional financial resources for their work through grants and gifts from federal and state agencies.
Alchemy continues to work with CEO Department and its divisions in their annual planning efforts and for other specialized projects as requested. |

| What did the client say? |
Alchemy has assisted the Community & Economic Opportunity Department in ways that far exceeded our expectations. Based upon a community needs assessment of the county's residents, we knew that our services were not well known. With Alchemy's help we have been able to increase our visibility with residents, businesses, school districts, state government, foundations, cities and economic developers. As a result key partnerships have been developed and additional funding secured, especially for our Head Start program.
Each quarter we assess the success of our strategies to determine what is working and adapt accordingly. Alchemy has supported our development every step of the way and is vested in our success. We recommend Alchemy services to anyone who is truly committed to moving their organization up to a higher level of performance.
